‘One can rule over the thinking and actions of people and of society by means of violence for a period of time, but one cannot break their will for freedom. The most important thing in the fight for freedom is the absolute assurance of the universal enforcement of Human Rights. To achieve this we in Europe must transform this continent into a judicial region of common values that absolutely secures the enforcement of Human Rights. […] I believe that the division of our continent, the oppressive weight of weapons and the potential basis for confrontation will come to an end. In my opinion the nations of Europe have already taken steps on this new path of development.’
